Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

Hey Guys!

Colour: Rendezvous

Bottom: Rendezvous (Balm stain), Top: Juicy Papaya (Lip butter)

This is one of my staple lip color for the past month besides the Revlon lip butter in the colour juicy papaya. Comparing both, the balm stain is more pigmented than the lip butter, the texture feels lighter. A fairly bold colour can be achieved after about 3-4 application and the colour will stain you lip even after the balm wears off. Rendezvous is a reddish coral colour, whereas Juicy Papaya is a pinkish coral colour. The only thing I dislike is that it smells like toothpaste/ dental floss, it has a really strong mint smell, I am not a fan of mint anyway. Looking forward to purchase more balm stains in the future =)

EOS lip balm

Hi there!

Honeydew

I have been using the EOS lip balm recently after using up my Burt's Bees lip balm, which I had used for the whole of 2012. Personally, I feel that both lip balms are relatively comparable, both are equally moisturizing. The only difference is the packaging, it is quicker and easier to apply the balm using EOS as compared to Burt's Bees. I will continue to re-purchase the Burt's Bees lip balm instead of EOS because a EOS costs twice as much as a Burt's Bees in the UK.

This EOS lip balm has a pretty strong honeydew scent and it is a colourless when applied on the lips.

Real technique expert face brush

Hey there!

front

The expert face brush by real technique is a cheap and good quality brush. It blends cream and liquid foundation quickly and flawlessly. I personally feel it is easier to blend foundation using this brush than a duo fiber brush (Sigma F50).  Since it has a smaller and tapered brush head with dense bristles, it can be use it to blend cream concealer, applied after foundation. I highly recommend this brush to anyone out there who is looking for a reasonably priced foundation brush.

Revlon lip butter - Juicy papaya

Hey all!~

Juicy Papaya - 027

This is a new lip butter shade which was launched during the first quarter of the year. It is a coral shade, has no shimmer or glitter in it. The lip butter is not too pigmented, it give your lips a "better than your lip colour" look. Like other lip butters, it is moisturizing, however not long lasting, you have reapply it consistently throughout the day.

Sleek -aqua collection blusher

Hey there!

Mirrored Pink, 846

Sleek recently launched a new collection, the aqua collection. There is only one blush colour in this collection, Mirrored Pink (846). It is a rosy pink colour with lots of gold shimmer. The shimmer is really fine so it give your cheeks a little glow without looking too glittery.  On the down side, this blusher is not very pigmented and its not long wearing, it last about 4-5 hours before it started fading.

Sinful Colors Professional - nail polish

Hey All!~
Left to right: Cloud 9 (853), Let's Talk (929)

Used Essie Good to Go topcoat

Just to clarify, the nail polish colour in Let's Talk (929) is not blue but dark purple. My camera couldn't capture that colour well enough. I bought these nail polishes from Boots not too long ago, the brand has got a fairly wide range of colours.

The formula is pretty good, in my opinion 'Let's Talk' is more pigmented than 'Cloud 9'. 2 coats of polish was required for 'Let's Talk' and 3 coats of polish 'Cloud 9' were required for my nails to look fully opaque. They do not chip very easily. It lasted me for about 5 days with minor wear-offs at the tip of my nails.

For it's price at £1.99, I think it is worthwhile to buy their nail polishes.

Vichy Dermablend liquid Foundation

Hey all!~

I have been using and experimenting with this foundation for about 2 months. In case you are wonder what skin type I have, it is very oily and acne prone.

This foundation have saved me a lot of time trying to conceal some of my pimple/ acne scaring on my face. It is so pigmented that you can use your ring finger to apply some of it to conceal more serious scaring. A little goes a long way, a thin layer of this foundation was able to give me a medium coverage. A full-coverage can be easily achieved with this foundation. Since a thin layer is applied, it will not cake or slide as easily as the other foundations that I had tried. With a layer of finishing powder on top of it, it stayed matte for about 4-5 hour. In my case it's a big deal because other long-wearing will not even keep my skin matte for that long.

However, there are two major downside of this product. Firstly, the foundation dries quickly so you have to blend it very quickly. Secondly, it contains SPF 35 which be good for daytime but not at night. This foundation will most likely not be suitable for those who have dry skin as it will accentuate the dry patches on the skin.

This product can be found at Boots in the UK, they are shelved at where Vichy skincare range is.

Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivids - UK

Hey all!~

Well I've got to say that the Vivids collection available in the UK was a little disappointing, the colours were less "fun" and unique. Only the one in 910 Shocking coral attracted my attention. I went to boots earlier today and checked the line, it is called Colour Sensational Vivids in the UK too.

910 shocking coral is more wearable than the other two that I purchased earlier. It is a pinky coral colour, when I tried it on, it looked noticeably more of a pink shade than a coral. The formula and pigmentation is similar to 970 Electric Fuchsia and 980 Orange Edge. However, this lipstick did settle in the fine lines on my lips, it is quite noticeable if you see it up close. All in all, I still think it is a great lipstick.

I hope they will have more colous in the future =)

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids

Hey All!~

From left: 970 electric fuchsia and 980 orange edge

left: orange edge; right: electric fuchsia

I purchased these two new lipsticks from Maybelline on my trip to New York last week. I am not really sure if these two colours are in the permanent line as it is labeled as limited edition on the casing. Well, if you have difficulty finding these, I got them from DuaneReade drugstore.

It is pretty rare to find such vibrant lip colours in the drugstore line. I barely own any super bold and bright lip colours before, and after watching several good reviews on these lipsticks I decided to give it a go. I do agree with the positive reviews on these lipsticks, they are super pigmented, hydrating, lasts a long time, does not emphasize the crack line on the lips (works if you do not have severe dry lips) and it does not bleed.

970, Electric Fuchsia:
Cool pinkish magenta

980, Orange Edge:
Cool Orange slanted towards red

Both colours are not neon bright, Electric Fuchsia is definitely more eye-catching than the other. I prefer to apply the lip colour directly from the bullet and soften the edges using my ring finger.

BeautySoClean

Hey all!

left: brush cleanser; right: cosmetic sanitizer mist

It is really important to ensure that all your makeup applicators are clean before using it, sometimes washing them weekly is not enough. I have been using these two products since August 2012 and I personally feel that they are really effective. It help me to keep blemishes at bay, and makes me feel more at ease when I re-use my brushes to apply my makeup.

I usually spritz some cleanser on my brushes and some on a tissue, and gently swirl your brush bristles on the tissue until most of the makeup has been removed, it will dry really quickly. I do this on a daily basis before applying my makeup. Even so, I do wash my makeup brushes with soap and water on a weekly basis to ensure that they are thoroughly clean.

I use the cosmetic sanitizer mist every now and then on my powder makeup products, such as my compact face powder, eye shadow, blushers and bronzers. By keeping the makeup products clean, this will extend the lifespan of your makeup products.

Brush cleansers are now more common in the market, there are other brands such as Makeupforever and Sephora which sells them if you cannot get BeautySoClean brush cleanser.

There is a online store for the UK, US and Canada where you can purchase BeautySoClean products. In Singapore, it is available in certain Watsons store.

Hope you found this helpful =)

Battle of the spot correcting products

Hello all!

I have been changing my skin care regime since the end of last year as I feel that there are some changes as to "how well" certain skincare products worked on me.

Pimple scaring is one of the major major issue that I face for many years. As I grow older, I realize that my pimple scars are taking a longer time to fade off which annoys me a lot.

I used SK-II whitening spot specialist since the end of 2011 till December 2012 but personally I don't feel it improved my skin much during that period of time. It does help to speed up the process but not as much as I feel it should have. I switched to using Kiehl's about a month ago and am very happy with its results. I have been using this product together with Kiehl's over-night biological peel ( which i use twice a week and will do a review on it soon).

SK-II whitening spots specialist:
- no distinct fragrance
- feels thicker as compared to Kiehl's
- skin feels a little dry when using it especially during winter
To find out more: http://www.sk-ii.com.sg/en/products/whitening-spots-specialist.aspx?cat=2&subcat=spots-control

Kiehl's clearly corrective dark spot solutions:
- no distinct fragrance but its smell reminds me of Tea tree products
- is more "liquidity"
- does not cause skin to feel noticeably dry
To find out more:  http://www.kiehls.co.uk/skin-care/by-category/serums/clearly-corrective-dark-spot-solution.aspx#BVRRContainer

As of now, I feel Kiehl's clearly corrective dark spot corrector is more worthwhile as it works better and is less expensive than SK-II.

This review is my personal opinion, it may work the same way or otherwise for others depending on your skin. =)
